There is no denting the self-belief of this man

It’s pure reflex now. I see our Prime Minister and I think, You are just so full of  it. Polling suggests I’m not alone.

But there is no denting the self-belief of this man who imagines himself a hero of the self-made.

Up to Rotorua he went last week, to get himself out of Wellington to talk to the real people, the ones he relates to, out there getting things done, not being Wellington.

Down he sits at a business breakfast in a big winged armchair to talk with the real people, his people.

But he's also been getting a bit more blunt with his real people.

He’s not sucking up as hard as he once did.
He’s getting a bit sick of them failing to grasp that a leader is someone you praise for being an awesome leader, not someone you whine at to get shit done.

So he doesn’t take  it well sitting at the business breakfast in the big winged armchair when some useless businesswoman stands up and says things are really bad.

He doesn't even wait for her to say What's the government going to do about it; he fills in the gap and tells her off for asking What's the government going to do about it?
