What name will history find for this tortured, febrile, brittle epoch we’re in right now? What would best capture its dire excesses, its galloping accumulation of billionaires, its culture wars, its frothing foaming toxic social media, the influencers and Netflix and avocado-in-everything; the blithe indifference to suffering and poverty; the fecklessness about the frying planet?
Decades of Denial might be apt. Denial, and a perpetual averting of the gaze from inconvenient truth.
