Landed in Baku. Tourists need an e-visa for Azerbaijan, but it’s easy to get. I asked the Official Person at passport control whether I could enter multiple times provided I had a new e-visa each time (Plan C). Yes, she said, no problem. Whenever you like. Welcome to Azerbaijan.
Exiting customs, I was approached, sort of, by taxi drivers. They tended to skulk around behind me, out of camera shot, uttering words like ‘taxi’ and ‘city’ and ‘Baku’ in the kind of low, conspiratorial tone that one would normally reserve for selling cocaine on a street corner. Poor marketing.
