Kia Kaha Primary School in lights

Kia Kaha Primary School in lights

In an underground bar on Symonds Street earlier this year, Amy Mansfield said,
Have you ever thought of putting Kia Kaha Primary School on stage?

I told her,
No, but I love that idea!

Amy and her friend, Anna Groot are very good at putting things on stage.

You may recall me enthusing about Amy's play I Didn’t Invite You Here to Lecture Me.

So now here we are, and here comes Kia Kaha Primary School onto a stage.

We like the idea of a narrator in the school journal style.

We like the idea of the radio play style - sound effects and whatnot.

We like the idea of children's voices recounting the happenings of the adult world, and letting their shortcomings speak for themselves.

Also we like the MTAF Friday quizzes.

In short we have taken a bunch of More Than A Feilding things and made them into a night out.

It will be taking full advantage of the coming election; but on the other hand if you fear election overload, please be assured this will be like no election event you have ever seen. Our primary concern is your entertainment and enjoyment.

This will also be Number 6 in a series of live events by Amy and Anna entitled Keeping Curious. A number of MTAF readers have been in that crowd too, we thought it would be nice to introduce the two worlds to each other.

So do please come and make it a success! If you do, we can consider doing the same thing in other places. Hello Leigh and Emily Writes, yes, we would very much love to come and do it in Te Whanganui a Tara. Hello Quentin, yes we would love to bring a Kia Kaha school camp to Ōtautahi.

Do you have any questions? Any requests? Because although the show is already made, there is every possibility of it evolving as the election draws - hit me in the comments section.

If your question is Just tell me how to get tickets, Dave. I love to support the arts and progressive thinking in this country and most of all I like a good night out and some laughs, the answer is thank you so much and stand by for the button to click!

If your question is: What in the wide world of sports is Kia Kaha, what are you going on about now? please enjoy some old Thursday Journals here, here and here.

And now, before I go back to writing furious denunciation of the things that utter stoat Seymour is smugly promising to do; and the bafflement I feel about harbour tunnel plans; and the hateful vile words of Barry and Heather, please join me first in the booking office a for the greatest little Saturday night school night you'll have this election.

When? Saturday, September 23 Ā· 7 - 10pm

Where? Dalmatian Cultural Society - Villa Dalmacija 10 New North Road Auckland

How do  I get tickets? Click the button right here, and thank you for coming out!
