It is media studies morning at Kia Kaha Primary School!
It is also try not to get Covid morning at Kia Kaha Primary School.
It is try not to get Covid morning every morning at Kia Kaha Primary School.
There was a big vaccination day in Summer,
and there are masks for everybody who wants one,
and the windows and doors are open.
But lots of people are getting it anyway.
Most of Room 13 has had the Covid.
Ms Barry is extra careful.
But she has still had it twice.
Everyone at Kia Kaha Primary school knows you can ask Ms Barry about anything. Except for how's it going with those requests for air filters.

Media studies is fun.
In media studies you stand up and say what you saw on the TV news last night.
Who will go first?
Caleb is going first.
Caleb says,
I donāt think we got the real news on our TV last night Miss.
Ms Barry says,
Why do you say that, Caleb?
Caleb says,
Because the TV news was saying that
someone on the TV news had to stop being on the TV News
and this was bad news about the TV News
and very serious.
Dad was laughing.
He said crack up they're legit scrapping in public.
But then Mum got dark and said itās not funny Craig. Not at all.
And then Mum started talking quietly to Dad and I couldnāt hear much.
Iām not sure but I think she might be involved in some way, Miss.
Ms Barry says,
Your Mum doesn't work at TV though does she, Caleb?
Caleb says,
No, but she kept saying Me Too,
and waving her hands the way she does when she says
you don't get it Craig honestly do I have to draw a map?

Abi has her hand up.
She says,
Miss, we saw that too and Dad said to Mum
well this is all about leadership failure obviously.
Ms Barry says,
Thatās an interesting point, Abi.
Did your Mum think so too?
Abi says,
I don't know, she just kept stirring the risotto.
And Dad said,
I mean how could this have happened,
when you've got a chief executive whoās been a National Party minister
I mean you can't do better than that eh?
And then him and Grandad started arguing.
So thatās all I know sorry.

Ciara says,
Miss, I think watching the news makes people argue.
Like, what Abi and Caleb said,
thatās what it was like at our place last night too.
Ms Barry says,
Thatās no good Ciara, what happened?
Ciara says,
Well Mumās sister Sarah was visiting and having wines with Mum,
and the TV news was going,
and a man came on the TV and Sarah said
Oh look itās Kirk,
and they started watching
and he was talking about unions and fair pay
and Polish Shipyards
and Sarah kept going
mmm, mmm, yep,
thatās it,
yep totally,
yep, go Kirk.
And Mum looked at Sarah and said,
Seriously?
And then she said,
He's gone full parody you know that right,
what's next, kids up chimneys?
And they started arguing
and then Sarah put down her wine glass and walked out,
which is like totally not the first time that's happened
but she doesnāt always slam the door
or scrape the Audi on the gate on the way out
so now she's probably like really dark.
Ms Barry says,
Did anyone get to watch the news without an argument?
Tahlia says,
Miss, no one had argument at our place,
but Iām worried Mum might have got Covid while we were watching.
Ms Barry says,
Oh no, what happened Tahlia?
Tahlia says,
Well we watched the thing about the guy
who got hired for being an old mate
and then let go for being creepy,
and we watched the one about paying people nothing,
and we had just started watching one about money
and the reporter was saying
here's what this means for your mortgage
and Mum said I feel sick,
and she turned off the TV and went upstairs.
Ms Barry says
I think that's probably not Covid, Tahlia,
I think she might have just been feeling a bit worried.
Can you tell her Iām thinking of her and I'll see her at book club?
And if you want to take some masks home, help yourself.
Patrick and Zac have their hands up.
They are smirking at each other.
Ms Barry sighs.
She wonders if it will be another R18 Reddit page.
