Get in the sea, old mate

Get in the sea, old mate

For the State Highway One traveller, some sights remain dramatic no matter how many times you see them: Wellington harbour opening out at the bottom of Ngauranga Gorge; the first glimpse of Ruapehu; three quarters of the South Island. Also: the moment when you reach the top of the Brynderwyns and behold the Tahiti-like peaks of Whangārei Heads. Saw them this weekend; dramatic as ever.

Hello MTAF readers Brenda and Sandy, lovely to see you, lovely to walk on your beach. Ruakākā  has beautiful white sand, ample space for dogs, for horses, for families and surfers, and for a surfing dog

It also has emblems of nation-building. The Marsden Point refinery is right there at the end of the beautiful beach. And next to it, just a few steps off the beach in your bare feet, you will also find NIWA's state-of-the-art land-based fish farm.
