It's a Friday night in the seaside village, we are at Vondel, and all the Greens North Shore candidates are here as well as near half a dozen of their MPs. Vondel is a nice place to eat and drink, it's also a bar that's not afraid to make a political point. Of course they'd choose this one.
Chlöe asks what I make of the election. She's bemused, even as someone who knows exactly how the game is played, by how doggedly the media coverage keeps skewing back to the horse race and doesn't want to give the time of day to policy debates.
It's not that policy announcements haven't had coverage, more that it tends to run along the lines of how does this play? and what does Simeon Brown say is wrong with it? and can we find someone who'll call it communism?
