Years and years ago, when Helen Clark was Prime Minister and John Key was gunning for her job, I had a conversation with a mate, a trader who knew John Key well enough to paint a helpful picture.

It was many drinks ago so it’s not a complete one. But there’s enough.

It takes place in a Wellington or Auckland dealing room. Some guy is on his last day with the firm. Or something like that.
