So much of what was there remains

So much of what was there remains

The columnists in Private Eye take pen names, so I have not the least idea who any of them are. But I greatly appreciate their expert insight, especially MD, who writes the medical column, offering informed and often damning critique of the UK health system and the politicians who keep failing it. Obviously there’s always a great deal that can be said.

I’ve no idea what part of the system MD works in, but all their writing has that reassuring tone you get from a good clinician; the sense you’re in good hands.

And now I’m going to possibly show a bias by saying that given all that, something they wrote recently completely floored me. They wrote, quite casually, in the context of some other observation that they had no interest in living past 75.
