Runned over by a damned old train

Runned over by a damned old train

In the Country classic You Never Even Called Me By My Name, David Allen Coe interrupts the song to share an anecdote about the song's writer Steve Goodman.

Goodman had told him he believed his song to be the perfect country and western song. Coe disputed this: why, he hadn't said anything at all about Mama, or trains, or trucks, or prison or getting drunk.

Goodman considered this, agreed, went back, added some words, made it undeniably the perfect country and western song with a last verse that goes like this here.
