Mostly today we are going to be in a fake Antarctica but first we climb aboard yet another train. Here comes some pure Japanese delight as the driver of this train switches off the lights, the better for passengers to view the autumn leaves of Kyoto. Do give it a click, it really is arresting.
This is stunning!

To allow riders to better view autumn leaves, the driver of this Eizan Electric Railway train on the Kurama Line switches off the lights so passengers can better view this "Maple Tunnel" outside #Kyoto.
Another reason to love #Japan's rail culture.
On Twitter, Nick wrote of this ride: can't explain why but this gave me Kelly Tarltonsβ penguin train vibes.
Possibly he means this favourably, but for three decades I have been slightly flinching at any mention of that frozen place, a project I was involved in that promised so very much and delivered rather less.
