Don’t look at me, I voted for Efeso

Don’t look at me, I voted for Efeso

And so this is Friday and what have we learned? Don’t look at me, I voted for Efeso.

The ever-repeating story of Auckland is to say:
We could be doing this for less, let's not be doing this indulgent stuff
and then thirty years later say:
If only we hadn’t said we could be doing this for less.
What were we thinking?
Why didn't we do it properly?
Why didn't we do underground rail like Robbie wanted?
Why didn’t we do a proper bridge?

Perhaps 30 years from now the lament will be:
Why did they stop doing great urban design just when they were starting to get it right?
And the answer will be:
Because the Mayor said he couldn't see the point.
