A very fine view always awaits the weary driver at the end of Ngauranga Gorge.
It is the reveal, the pulling back of the curtain; sparkling and captivating after a slog through dreariness. No offence, Johnsonville and Newlands and Grenada, but it really is special. That sudden spectacle of Wellington and its harbour, on any kind of day, is arresting, exciting, no matter how many times you’ve seen it.
I came down that road last week and there it was once more, and once more it delighted me.
