The name of our business needs to be more clear; people need to know what we do and what we’re for. That’s what I told my shift supervisor my very first week on the job. I said, Mate, what does McDonald’s even mean? How does anyone know to come in for food when there’s nothing about it in our name? He told me to put my cap back on and not to worry about it. But I knew I was right.”

“Same thing at Unilever. What does that even mean? Unilever??? I wanted a more customer-facing name like Soap’n’Suds’n’Stuff. But I couldn’t get the buy-in. I just couldn’t.”
