A Bold Experiment today, readers. I’ve been trying out a program that takes online comments and turns them into a column. I can't get it to sound like me yet, but it does turn out joined up sentences and it’s nicely topical. Here's what I got when I asked it to report on the news for the last seven days.

The evil Ardern government is about to get eviller by making us wear masks on planes and on buses and trains because of so-called deadly so-called Covid. What next, will they make me wear a mask when I’m watching the footy on TV? Will they make me wear one while I'm sleeping? Don’t know why we can't be more like Sweden. Bad enough having to put on a seatbelt. I’ll be blowed if I’ll put on a mask just because some Commie with pink hair tells me to.
