A storm of the century might be on its way, but a warm sun rose this morning over Tāmaki Makaurau.

Karren was gathering a few things for an office day trip out into the Hauraki Gulf, for tree-planting on Motuihe Island. We debated whether it might be a good idea for me to give her a ride over to the viaduct to meet the boat, such is the dire unreliability these days of the Devonport ferry.
