Bishop ignores pawn
Poor old Tama Potaka says he didn't know the new RMA legislation would be tossing out the Treaty clause.
However, RMA Minister Bishop says it's all good and no worries because the new RMA will still recognise MΔori rights; it's just that the government prefers specific role descriptions over a generic Treaty clause.
Bishop runs a good line in placatory statements and reassuring noises. It's quite possible this could prove to be the case. But he is also possessed of the National party's abiding faith in the market and the taking away of guardrails.
