Erasure

Erasure

I have been erased. Cancel culture has come to our seaside village and wiped me out. The multi million dollar film industry has deemed me a non-person. I should be livid and seething. I could maybe enlist help from Judith Collins but no, she’s blocked me.

The story begins, in the nicest way, a decade ago. Our local movie house, The Vic, one of the oldest in all the Southern Hemisphere, was restored, thanks to dedicated fundraising. This called for a celebration: a 100th birthday party, over a whole weekend. All kinds of free entertainment, and a gala show on Saturday night, with your hosts Robyn Malcolm and good old Uncle Dave, who was also there on Saturday morning with a bullhorn directing happy citizens of the seaside village gathered outside for a commemorative photo.

Up I went onto the roof and everyone was in a great mood and I invited them to smile and wave to the camera and that’s what Devonport did. Here’s the photo, and me with the bullhorn.
