I have been outside this week, replacing spouting. Although this involves ladders and sharp tools, I am pleased to say there have been no cuts, no falls, no disasters. I mention this because from some of the comments some of you have made, I'm getting the feeling I may have over-egged the pudding regarding my DIY misfortunes and led you to worry unduly on my behalf.
In actual fact, when the risk is substantial, I tend to be cautious to a fault. It's the carelessness when there's nothing much to worry about that is generally my undoing.
But I do very much appreciate your concern. We are tough as old boots, we can be felled in a moment. The worst kind of fate can arrive out of a clear blue sky. Sometimes we feel able to share it with the world, sometimes we can barely manage to acknowledge it to ourselves.
